Percy Scenic Reserve
Parks
Percy Scenic Reserve is a unique pocket of bush and gardens right on the edge of the city.
With easy walking tracks, a duck pond, small cave, and a waterfall tucked further up the valley, it’s a great spot for younger explorers or a slower-paced outing.
Good for:
Toddlers
Older kids
Start on the open lawns near the pond, then follow the paths into the bush. A short wander brings you to a historic water wheel, and about 15 minutes further you’ll reach the slim, tall waterfall.
Keep an eye out along the way, there’s plenty to discover, including a small cave that’s home to native wētā.
The reserve is also home to a collection of rare and native plants, with a long history dating back to the Percy family, who lived here from the 1840s.
LOCAL TIP:
It’s an easy place to let kids lead the way. Take it slow and explore rather than rushing to the waterfall.
COFFEE: The Chubby Baker, House of Good Fortune and La Bella Italia
