Ride lush bush trails that are great at any time of year - when it's sunny for hilltop views and especially good if a bit wet or windy as you're often sheltered below the canopy.

Take in views across the Hutt Valley and Wellington Harbour with trails running from easy to hard, and right through to technical trails like Spoonhill, an advanced downhill-only track.

Set in the hills overlooking Wainuiomata, Waiu Park offers riders a network of 18 trails to explore the ridges, valleys and native bush.

Whether you’re new to mountain biking, or on the hunt for a gut-busting uphill or technical downhill training route, there’s something to suit all ages and abilities, along with a family-friendly skills area. Make your way along 4WD tracks and firebreaks, weave through native bush and wetlands, or cross streams and take in 360-degree views over the region.

The tracks are all maintained and built by volunteers with the Wainuiomata Trail Project supported by Hutt City Council. They are always happy for others to join, so if you're interested get in touch.

Add in the gentle ascent of the popular Te Whiti Riser single track and connecting ridgeline 4WD trails to the park for a whole day's adventure along the Eastern Valley's hills and the new shared path over Wainuiomata Hill Road.

STOP FOR A COFFEE
