Parks and playgrounds
With lots of young families in our neighbourhoods we've got plenty of parks to go around - we'd love to see you and the littlies out our way
Recently revamped and worth a family day out
Park Street, Maidstone, Upper Hutt
Maidstone Max Park has something for the whole family with a focus on accessible play for users of all abilities. Along with the playground, sand play and musical play, there's a basketball half-court, pump track, and a completely new skate park. Parents can relax and watch the kids play from one of the many seated areas or picnic tables, only a few minutes’ walk, drive or bike from the city centre and railway station. The Park also offers a high-octane downhill mountain bike track for intermediate riders. The 1100m track twists down the hill and exits through a mix of regenerating native and established beech forest.
Finish with an ice cream
Marine Drive, Days Bay, Lower Hutt
Across the road from one of the most popular swimming beaches in Wellington you'll find Williams Park. Several sports fields give you a chance to kick a ball around or run off some energy and the park backs on to beautiful native bush, great for a wander.
Plenty of options for all ages
Akatarawa Rd, Brown Owl, Upper Hutt
Harcourt Park is packed with activities for you and your family such as bike ride tracks, learn to ride cycle track, two adventure playgrounds and a paddling pool – all a perfect way to spend your summer day! The park also offers free electric barbeques, disc golf course, and garden and native bush walks.
