Where to spend your lunch break in Lower Hutt
We sent local food Instagrammers FingeryFood out on the lunch hunt in Lower Hutt. They took this opportunity to check out some places they hadn't been before!
Food, food, glorious food! We're food instragram duo FingeryFood and it's our goal to eat our way around Wellington, all while taking mouth-watering pics to share with you all. As Hutt locals, and working in Lower Hutt central, we thought it's time to check out some new eateries within walking distance.
The Dowse Art Museum is a great way to spend a lunchbreak so we headed there to explore the exhibitions on offer and stop into Bellbird Eatery afterwards for their amazing cheese scones.
When we visited the museum there was an incredible virtual reality exhibition on so we had a great time getting lost in a virtual world and coming away from that feeling like we had just stepped out of an alternate universe. The best thing about these exhibitions is that they are free and we found all of the exhibitions really interesting. Roaming around the museum took us about half an hour, followed by a bite to eat so perfect to do during the day when you are enjoying lunch.
Nestled humbly amongst a group of stores on High Street, this locally owned bakehouse houses every lunch option you could ever want or need to satisfy your hunger, and get you through an afternoon of work. Even though the golden pies were calling our name, we couldn’t go past the deliciously full sandwiches in the cabinet.
We grabbed our sandwiches and had to make the most of the beautiful sunny weather by enjoying them at Riddiford Gardens not far from the bakehouse. Fix Federation is renowned for their range of donuts on offer, so not hard to tack on a sweet treat to your lunch order as an afternoon pick-me-up.
