Hutt Minoh House

Bringing two cities together

A Japanese cultural hub in Lower Hutt. Learn origami, calligraphy (shodo), Japanese tea ceremony (sado) and more. The building itself was built in 1904 for Victoria College's first professor of modern languages and was restored and opened as the Hutt Minoh Frendship House in 1999.

  • See the house itself on open days or by special arrangement
  • Learn some Japanese or practice your language skills with regular classes
  • Check out the Cherry Blossom Festival in spring, or the Martial Arts Expo in autumn
