Avalon Park

Come and enjoy Lower Hutt's adventure playground! Avalon Park has just been re-vamped with new play equipment and places to hang out. The old favourites like the mini train, skate park and cycle training course are all still there too! Fire up some sausages on the free public barbeques or take the dog for a walk, as long as it’s on a lead.

Lions Park

A seaside playground with a nautical theme, kids of all ages will enjoy Lions Park. A small shop for snacks and drinks is right next door. Just a short walk away is McEwan Park, a large sports field, perfect for kicking around a ball and running off some energy.

Williams Park

Across the road from one of the most popular swimming beaches in Wellington you'll find Williams Park. Several sports fields give you a chance to kick a ball around or run off some energy and the park backs on to beautiful native bush, great for a wander.

CI Bishop Park

A seaside playground, well worth visiting. CI Bishop Park has a fully-fenced toddler play area, picnic tables and a barbecue for visitors to use. The Eastbourne Summer Pool is right next door, so if you're visiting between November and March you can have a swim too.

Percy Scenic Reserve

Percy Scenic Reserve is a beautiful park with areas of garden, lawns and native bush. A fantastic place to stop for a picnic or take a wander down a bush track, maybe even see some weta and glow worms in the Weta Cave.

Melling Skatepark

Melling skatepark is a purpose built facility. Traditionally designed with street features, it's a great place to test out your skating skills and hang out with friends. There are lots of skating facilities in Lower Hutt, go to the Hutt City Council website for more information.

Parkway Family Playground

The Parkway Family Playground is fun for all ages. The big-kids playground was designed by students from the local college, and sure gives your physical skills a good test. There's a flying fox that zooms most of the length of the park and a toddlers playground. If you head towards the back of the park and left, there's even a skating rink.

Hugh Sinclair Park

A magnificent modern playground in the center of Wainuiomata. Hugh Sinclair Park is full of adventure. Set on a wide open field there's room to move about here. A small skate park sits next door and the local mall is just across the road. A short walk away is Frederick Wise Park with large fields and even a BMX track.

Maidstone Max

Maidstone Max in Upper Hutt is an action-packed playground with so much to do. The award winning park has so much to see, you could easily make a day of a trip here. There's a 1000m2 skate park, 60m long flying fox and loads of places to sit and have a picnic.

Harcourt Park

Harcourt Park is the ultimate when it comes to playgrounds. In summer there is a paddling pool with splash pad for the kids to cool down. There are free barbecues available to use and enough picnic tables and shady trees for everyone. There's a disc golf  course and separate playgrounds for the older kids and the younger ones. If you're up for a bit of a wander you can join the Hutt River Trail from here.
