Petone Settlers Museum

On the shores of Wellington’s harbour, the Petone Settlers Museum occupies one of New Zealand’s most significant memorial buildings – the Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial.

The memorial was built to commemorate the arrival of the first New Zealand Company Settlers on Pito-one’s shores on 22nd January 1840. Serving also as a bathing pavilion, the Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial became the heart of Petone’s thriving beach scene.

Petone Rugby Club Museum

Founded in 1885, the Petone Rugby Club is one of the iconic Clubs in NZ Sport.  The Club has been the Wellington Premier Champions 38 times between 1895 and 2005 and has won the Club Championship on no fewer than 42 occasions between 1922 and 2006.

The Club has produced 30 All Blacks and 16 NZ Maori representatives, as well as several players who have represented other countries in Internationals.

Petone Police Station & Jail

Visiting Jackson Street, Petone is an experience of old world charm and contemporary services with a rich tapestry of stories to tell.  Jackson Street houses the longest serving police station in New Zealand c. 1908.

LeSa Gallery

LeSA (pronounced L'SAH) Art Gallery is a visual art gallery situated in the historic zone of Jackson Street, Petone. The gallery represents contemporary printmaking, painting, and sculpture from Aoteraoa New Zealand.

The Golder Cottage Museum

The Golder Cottage was originally named "Straven Cottage", and is one of the earliest pioneer homes of Upper Hutt.

Wainuiomata Historical Museum

Located in an historical school building containing two classrooms, in the grounds of the Wainuiomata Primary School.  One room has been converted into an historical display while the other room has been restored as a colonial classroom.
