The Golder Cottage Museum

Golder Cottage, one of the earliest pioneer homes of Upper Hutt. The cottage has a fascinating collection of memorabilia from the era.  Much of the furniture exhibited was made by John Golder; other items on display have always had their home in the cottage.

The Golder Cottage, originally named 'Straven Cottage', is one of the earliest pioneer homes of Upper Hutt.  Built in 1876 by John Golder, it was lived in by members of the family until 1985.  The cottage has a fascinating collection of memorabilia from the era.  Much of the furniture exhibited was made by John Golder; other items on display have always had their home in the cottage.  The rooms are furnished much as they were when John, Jane and their twelve children lived in the cottage. 

 

The cottage is open to the public each Saturday from 1.30 to 4.00pm

Adults $3.00, Students $2.00, Children under 12yrs $1.00, Children under 5yrs free.

 

Groups can view the cottage by prior arrangement during the week.
