Classic New Zealand Wine Trail

The Classic New Zealand Wine Trail is a deliciously indulgent road journey from Hawke’s Bay in the North Island to Marlborough in the South Island.  The trail uncovers five of New Zealand’s most scenic regions, including three major wine-growing areas.

Antonio Cacace - La Bella Italia

Between Wellington and the Wairarapa is the Hutt Valley, gateway to the outdoors but a foodies paradise at the same time.

Jackson Street, Petone is filled with
unique food experiences:

  • Te Puna Wai Ora (Spring of Life) pours free pure artesian water for you to taste or bottle and take with you.  This is how water is supposed to taste.

  • Bookfeast is a book shop stocking only cook books.

  • House of Knives is right next door and contains every possible kitchen gadget you could imagine.

  • Cultured specialises in New Zealand cheeses and great complementing produce.

  • Ontrays (the South African Shop) is a most amazing delicatessen with meat on the hoof and imported goods you will not have seen before.

  • Gusto Bistro and La Bella Italia are two superb restaurants.  Gusto Bistro was a finalist in the Cuisine 2010 NZ Restaurant of the year.  La Bella Italia is pure authentic Italian and a true favourite for Wellingtonians.

There are also three coffee roasters in Hutt Valley.  You will find Ripe at Go Bang Cafe in Jackson Street and Revive next door to La Bella Italia.  Celcius Coffee won the award for best NZ organic coffee and they're on Hutt Road.
