Wellington's preeminent outdoor sculpture exhibition Banks Shoes Shapeshifter is a key visual arts feature of the New Zealand International Arts Festival.
Wander at will to view inspiring sculptures set amongst the trees, flowers and stream of the beautiful Civic Gardens, and indoors at TheNewDowse just over the road.
Shapeshifter features sculptures from over 60 artists, including top New Zealand sculptors Para Matchitt, Don Driver, Graham Bennett, Tanya Ashken, Peter Nicholls, Jenny Smith and Robert Hague, as well as exciting emerging artists.
You’re welcome to pack a picnic, and join in the music events, guided tours and evening openings planned. All works are for sale.
Shapeshifter 2008 brought the Smiling Windmills to the public's attention and they were eventually purchased for public display.
