Antler Lodge

Situated 570 metres above sea level in the bush of the beautiful Akatarawa Valley, Antler Lodge is the highest accommodation available in the Wellington region with 180 degree views from the Kaikouras to the south and Kapiti Island to the west.

Antler Lodge provides private, self service accommodation for up to 10 people, when you really need to get away from it all. Antler Lodge is similar to an open plan tramping hut.

All cooking equipment and utensils are provided. The Lodge has it’s own gas cooker and is heated by a large open fireplace and coal range which you can also cook on.

There are hygienic toilet and shower facilities.

You need to bring warm clothing, sleeping bags and pillows, slippers, torches, comfortable walking boots and your own food (catering available by prior arrangement).


When you arrive you can choose to walk or tramp through virgin Podocarp forest abundant in birdlife, pigs and deer with an expert guide or you may like to tour our deer farm. There are glow worm grottos to visit and a good choice of local valley attractions including Staglands Wildlife Reserve and Café, Efil Doog Garden and Art and Bluebank Blueberry and Emu Farm. Guided walks are available.


Antler Lodge is suitable for small corporate groups, birthdays, team building, families and those who enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

 

Access is by 4WD which can be provided. A helipad at the Lodge allows for a 15 minute flight from Queen’s Wharf in Wellington.

Antler lodge is open all year round and bookings are essential. Accommodation costs from $360 for 6 people and for 8 to 10 people the costs is $30 extra per person.
